The Effects on the body after a Commercial Truck Accident

When it comes to traffic accidents it's true that not every injury is cause for serious alarm, in many cases the victims will make a complete recovery after undergoing chiropractic care or some type of rehabilitation. However, when it comes to commercial truck accidents, the injuries can be life-altering.

Car Accident

Commercial trucks are massive, heavy vehicles that can cause serious damage to a regular vehicle even when an accident occurs at very slow speeds. The physics alone dictate that if  a commercial truck is involved in an accident with a regular motor vehicle, it is going to cause much more damage then an accident with two standard size vehicles.

The damages a truck accident can cause will obviously vary depending on the circumstances of the accident, however, there are certain common effects that a truck accident can cause on the body.

Head and Brain Injuries

Head and brain injures are very serious injuries that are likely to occur in a commercial truck accident especially if the accident is a head-on-collision. Head injuries can range from mild-severe, and if a traumatic brain injury occurs the affects can range from mild personality changes to death.

These life-altering injuries can take months or years for the victim to recover, if they even make a full recovery at all. For those who suffer from a concussion can still experience changes to the brain structure for months after the accident occurs.

Spinal Cord Injuries

The impact of a commercial truck accident can cause severe damage to the muscles, nerves, and bones in the spinal cord.

When the spinal cord becomes damaged it can lead to partial temporary or complete paralysis of various parts of the body. Even when the injury is not permanent, it can still cause severe pain and will often require complex rehabilitation in order for the victim to achieve recovery.

Spinal cord injuries regardless of the severity will still often require extensive treatment that costs thousands of dollars.

Internal Injuries

Due to the excessive force a commercial truck accident can cause, it is very common for the accident victims to suffer from internal injuries.

Internal injuries can include damage to the spleen, liver, bladder, kidneys, or pancreas and they can be very difficult to treat. The scary thing about internal injuries is some times the victim does not know right away that they suffered from one of these injures and if they refuse medical treatment or wait too long to be seen, they can end up with excruciating, life-long physical limitations because of the injury.

Neck Injuries

Injuries to the neck are very easy for accident victims to suffer from, especially in a truck accident. Most victims are not prepared for such a strong impact to occur and because of this, the head is often thrown back and forth during an impact.

Whiplash is often the result of this backward and forwards motion of the head and neck during an impact. Whiplash injuries can range from mild to severe, but will almost always cause pain and require chiropractic care in order to heal properly.

Wrongful Death

Unfortunately, when it comes to commercial truck accidents, it is not uncommon for the those involved to become the victims of Wrongful Death.

When small vehicles are struck by large semi trucks, the damages can be unthinkably horrible, and unfortunately not everyone always survives.
